The Chicago Public Library is a cultural institution that is central to the city of Chicago's education, entertainment, and community. It has served Chicagoans since 1871, and has over 81 branches throughout the city.
For this rebranding concept, the logo is a typographic representation of books and education, chicago history and community. We animated the logo to illustrate these themes, and then built out patterns and visual elements that stem from the logo design.
In addition to the primary logo, we created an abbreviated logo mark "ChiPubLib" that can be used as a pattern element, along with a mark using just the initials "CPL." Overall, it's a flexible, fun, and meaningful system to represent this important, educational, community-building organization.
